Starting in 2016, Postlight initiated a design partnership with Marquee, a cross-asset trading platform being built in-house at Goldman Sachs.
We provided assistance with user-research and overall product strategy while helping to extend an existing UI system. Through our research, we synthesized a set of new interfaces targeting specific bottlenecks in existing workflows. Our work helped give traders more precision, context, and confidence in their daily trading decisions.
As a result, we helped set a higher-level foundation of design process at Goldman Sachs, prioritizing piecemeal iteration and tighter feedback loops between designers and traders.

Product Press
The Product Builder is a tool that allows traders to visually construct financial instruments.

Traders may bundle multiple positions into a single tradable package, increasing workflow speed and allowing traders to more easily mitigate risk.
Legacy applications allowed users to create similar products, but they were notoriously cumbersome and prone to human error.
An internal tool for product construction.
Our reimagined product builder was designed to be faster, more precise and entirely keyboard friendly. It also provides a more visual way to represent a complex, financial product. The hypothesis was that a more visual presentation serves as a check against trader error.
The product builder goes a step further by incorporating a set of data visualizations (product liquidity and a forward curve) that provide even greater context to the construction of a product.

This UI introduced a new paradigm for custom product construction and was ultimately met with universal acclaim from the trading floor.

The Options Matrix is a tool specifically designed to mitigate short-comings in a prior options-trading workflow that required multiple tools and custom Excel spreadsheets piping in data from Bloomberg.
